If you’re like 78% of people in the US, you’re listening to digital audio. Digital audio, or Internet radio, is easy to access and is available on a variety platforms. You can stream audio on cell phones, computers and smart speakers and includes a huge range of programming options, not to mention the array of platforms to choose from like Pandora and Spotify. Much like Video on Demand (VOD), you can now hear exactly what you want, precisely when you want to hear it.
Spotify, for example, which was named the Best Overall Streaming Service in 2019 by Business Insider, allows you to listen to music, podcasts and even TV shows. There are many other options for both paid and free services such as Pandora, Apple Music, YouTube Music and Amazon Music.

We can’t overlook the widespread use of smart speakers. As of late 2018, about 25% of US Households owned a smart speaker such as an Amazon Echo or Google Home. Furthermore, 90% of those owners use their smart speaker to listen to music. As these devices become more prevalent, digital audio will continue to gain popularity.
